The Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Junction Flyover has reached completion and is nearing commissioning, paving the way for improved traffic flow along one of Nairobi’s busiest transport corridors.

The project, implemented by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), is part of the government’s broader investment in modern infrastructure and urban mobility aimed at transforming Nairobi into a modern, efficient and globally competitive capital city.

The flyover features an 800-metre elevated dual carriageway designed to separate through-traffic on Ngong Road from vehicles accessing Naivasha Road and King’ara Road, a move expected to significantly ease congestion in the area.

Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Raymond Omollo said the project marks another milestone in Nairobi’s urban transformation agenda.

“Once fully operational, the flyover is expected to significantly ease congestion along one of Nairobi’s busiest transport corridors, drastically reduce travel times between Ngong and the Central Business District and improve connectivity to key urban facilities, including the nearby Talanta Stadium ahead of AFCON 2027,” said Dr Omollo.

The infrastructure project is expected to benefit thousands of motorists who use the corridor daily by reducing travel delays and improving movement between residential areas and the city centre.

The flyover is also seen as a strategic investment ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with improved access to Talanta Stadium expected to enhance mobility for sports fans and visitors during the continental tournament.

Dr Omollo noted that the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration has been supporting the successful implementation of the project through stakeholder coordination, traffic management, public safety oversight and road safety sensitisation.

“The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to support the successful delivery of the project through stakeholder coordination, traffic management, public safety oversight and road safety sensitization, ensuring that the infrastructure delivers its intended benefits while safeguarding motorists, pedestrians and surrounding communities,” he said.

The completion of the flyover adds to a series of road infrastructure upgrades being undertaken across Nairobi to address traffic congestion, improve urban connectivity and support economic activity within the capital.
