Meta’ WhatsApp will introduce a new pricing model that will see Kenyan companies spend about Sh0.52 ($0.0040) per delivered utility message.
Effective October 1, 2026, businesses that reduced reliance on traditional messaging channels like SMS, phone calls and emails for WhatsApp Business Platform could eventually see a slight increase in their expenditure.
Meta says the reviewed charges target firms that embrace WhatsApp Business Platform, even as ordinary individuals on standard WhatsApp accounts will continue to chat with family and friends using the app at no cost.
“Meta will charge for utility messages sent in response to users within an open 24-hour customer service window. These messages have not been charged for since July 1, 2025,” a notice by the tech firm says.
