Mateke singer kicked out of Groove Awards empty handed

Popular gospel artiste Linet Masiro Munyali, famously known as Size 8 last evening walked away empty handed from the 12th annual Groove Awards finals, despite having been nominated in three categories.

The ceremony was hosted at a red-carpet gala at the KICC.

Eko Dydda, known for his unique singing style “Stagger” in Kenyan gospel hip hop music, took home the Male Artist of the Year award while ‘Nikupendeze’ gospel singer Mercy Masika grabbed the Female Artist of the Year award.

Award winning radio presenter Eva Mwalili of Milele FM took home the Radio Presenter of the Year award for the second time in a row as her show, Gospel Sunday, was nominated the best radio gospel show of the year.

Groove Awards is Kenya’s premier gospel music Awards Ceremony whose main vision is to promote, expose and celebrate gospel talent in Kenya and across Africa. It was started in Kenya in 2004.

  • Skiza tune most downloaded- Shule yako by Mercy Masika
  • TV show of the year – Angaza, KBC
  • Reggae/ragga song of the year – Generali by Hope Kid
  • Album of the year- Optimo Worship
  • Afro pop song of the year – Thitimaa by Kymo & Stigah
  • Dj of the year- DJ ruff
  • Hiphop song of the year – Vidole by Ecko Dydda
  • Best new Artist – Weeezdom

    Voted best male gospel artist of the year at the Groove Awards 2017.
