A man has died in a hospital in Nakuru County after, allegedly, his girlfriend fatally stabbed him in his lower right abdomen during a domestic row that led to a fight at their home in the Mutiritia area, Molo Sub-County.

According to the police, the incident took place on Monday, May 13, when both the deceased, identified as Kelvin Otieno, and the girlfriend, all aged 25, were admitted to Molo Sub-County Hospital, each with multiple stab wounds.

“The fight was seemingly fierce because both of them were admitted in critical condition. Unfortunately, we lost the young man to the injuries today,” Molo sub-county Police Commander Timon Odingo said.

The Police Commander said the woman is considered to be the principal suspect in the matter, and officers are at her hospital bedside as she receives treatment and will transfer her to a police station when her condition improves.

Mr Odingo also told journalists that police inquiry teams and detectives from the homicide unit had already visited the scene of the crime as they are preparing a case against the accused.

As for the deceased, his body was moved to Molo Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, and it is awaiting postmortem to ascertain the actual cause of death, he said.
