She will serve for a period of three years with effect from June 2022. LSK President Eric Theuri said her tenure is renewable once upon satisfactory performance. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in leadership and management,” Theuri said.
Pursuant to Section 26 of the Law Society of Kenya Act, 2014 and the provisions of the Constitution, 2010, that obligates the Society to undertake recruitment in a transparent and competitive process, the Council of the Law Society of Kenya advertised for the position of the Secretary/CEO of the Law Society of Kenya.
The Council shortlisted 10 candidate’s and on 30th May, 2022 through to 1st June, 2022, the Council conducted interviews to get the most suitable candidate on the basis of an objective assessment score card developed by an ad hoc sub-committee of the council.
It should be noted that prior to the commencement of the recruitment exercise, the council inquired from the acting secretary whether she intended to apply for the position. Subsequently, upon her confirmation that she intended to apply for the position, she was excluded from all council deliberations on the question of the CEO recruitment and all processes were handled by the sub-committee and the President of the Society.
She beat nine others to clinch the job, among them, Daniel Onyango Odhiambo, Samuel Ochieng Rambo, Anna Cherono Konuche, Stephen Odhiambo Anditi, Joseph Nyaberi Osoro, Marykaren Chesang Kigen-Sorobit, Dr Victor Okoth Ogwang Lando, Gilbert Oduor Onyango and Dr Judith Oloo.
