List of Black Spots Where Accidents Are Likely To Happen in Kenya

The government through the Ministry of Interior and National Administration has listed areas on Kenyan roads where accidents are likely to happen, especially during the festive season.

The government has urged motorists to exercise caution when driving through these roads to ensure their safety and that of others.

“Addressing black spots is a critical aspect of enhancing road safety and reducing fatalities, especially during busy periods like the holiday season when traffic volumes typically increase,” the Ministry noted.

Here’s a list of black spots in some of the regions in Kenya;

Nairobi

In Nairobi, road accidents are likely to happen in Kasarani G.S.U Stretch, Westlands Kabete Road, Mombasa Road Between Airtel Headquarters and Cabanas, Jogoo Road near Maziwa Stage Footbridge, Walyaki Way near Kangemi Fly Over, Thika road at KU, Ruai – Bypass, Langata near carnivore Junction, Eastern Bypass near Transami Footbridge and GM Footbridge.

Eastern

Road accidents in North Easten are likely to happen at Nkubu – Embu Road Section, Konza Junction to Salama Road Section, Mombasa | Nairobi at Chumvi Area, Salama – Sultan Hamud Road Section, Emali Simba Market to Kibwezi, Mtito to Tsavo River Stretch, Nanyuki to Isiolo Junction at Subuiga, Machakos – Wamunyu Road Section at Kithangathini, Molongo – Small World Club and Juction to Namaga and at Mto Wa Mawe Bridge.

Coast

In the coastal region, the areas identified as black spots include Tsavo – Maungu – Voi Road Section, Maungu – Tsavo East Gate RoadSection, Mazeras Miritini Road Section, Kilifi – Vipingo Road Section, Kibarani – Changamwe Makande, Kwale Matuga Junction Road Section, Navy Junction (Mtongwe Junction), Long Lunga – Lunga | Likoni Rd, Maji ya Chumvi, Uwanja wa Ndege, Maungu Area, Ndii Area and Malindi at Jiwe Tanga.

Central

Black spots in Central region include Kiganjo – Narumor Road, Kibirigwi – Sagana Road Section, Limuru – Uplands Section, Thika Blue Post – Sagana Bridge Road 8. Makutano Embu Road Section, Kiriaini – Muranga Road Section, Nyeri – Nyahururu Road, Makongeni (Along Thika – Garissa Road) and Kiambu – Muthaiga Road.

Rift Valley

In the Rift Valley region, areas identified as blackspots include Kinungi – Naivasha – Gilgil Toll Station, Gilgil – Nakuru road at Mbaruk Road Section, Molo G.S.U Camp – Salgaa, Salgaa to A.D.C. Farm Section, Timboroa – Burnt Forest Section, Chepsir – Kipkelion Junction (Sachangwani), Kericho – Litein Road Section, Kericho – Kaitui Section, Nanyuki – Isiolo Junction, Nyeri – Nyahururu Wiyumiririe Area, Gilgil Nakuru Road Kasambara Area, Narok – Mai Mahiu Junction, Kinyinyi area (Narok Road), Katakala – (Mulot – Narok Road), Nakuru – Mau Summit Road and Ngata Area – Nakuru Eldoret Road.

North Eastern

In North Eastern, road users are likely to get an accident at Garissa Madogo – KBC station.

Western

Black spots in the Western region include Mbale – Vihiga Road Section, Kakamega Chavakali Road Section, Kakamega – Kisumu – Ilesi Museno, Kakamega – Mumias Rd Makunga, Kakamega – Webuye – Lubao, Kambi Ya Mwanza Ejinya Corner, Malava Forest, Bungoma – Eldoret – Chemoi and Webuye – Misikhu Area.

Nyanza

In Nyanza, road accidents are likely to happen at Awasi Ahero Road Section, Kiboswa – Kisumu Road Section, Daraja Mbili – Bondo Junction, Oyugis – Katitu Road Section, Migori Kakrao Road, Gucha Bridge, Kisii Township Main Road and Kisii Daraja Mbili.
