Kisumu County will host over 300 elite cyclists from more than 30 African countries for the 2026 Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Road Cycling African Championships from October 21 to 25, 2026.

  • Host Significance: Marks the third consecutive year Kenya is staging the continental cycling showpiece, following previous editions in Eldoret (2024) and Kwale County (2025).
Expected Impact
  • Economic Boost: Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o noted that the event will inject revenue into local hospitality, catering, transport, and event management. “This is not just a race. This is an economic injection into our county’s veins. This is tourism reborn. This is Kisumu to the World,” Nyong’o said.
  • Global Exposure: Organizers anticipate nearly 90,000 engagements and over 1.8 million social media impressions.
  • Community Engagement: Residents and cycling enthusiasts can participate in a special social family fun ride scheduled during the tournament.

Governor Nyong’o thanked the Kenya Cycling Federation for selecting Kisumu to host the continental championship.
