Consumer trends during Jumia Tech Week reveal that Kenyans are prioritising smartphones, smart TVs, fridges and washing machines as the most sought-after electronics.
Models such as the Samsung Galaxy A06 and Xiaomi Redmi 15C led smartphone purchases, while the Vitron 43″ Smart Android TV and Vision Plus 50″ QLED 4K TV topped television sales.
On the appliance front, the Vision Plus 10KG Twin Tub Washing Machine and Ramtons 213 Litres fridge were among the strongest performers. These choices highlight how households are investing in both connectivity and practical technology upgrades to support everyday living.
This comes after Jumia announced the launch of Tech Week, running from 2nd to 15th March, under the theme “Cheza smart, ishi smart.” The initiative underscores how technology has become an essential part of daily life in Kenya from cooking and fitness to communication and entertainment and seeks to make these tools more accessible.
The campaign features flash sales twice daily, brand days with partners Oraimo, Roch, VisionPlus+, and Itel, and weekend discounts of up to 15% at checkout. Selected brands, including Ramtons, will also benefit from free delivery.
“Technology is no longer a luxury; it is a necessity. Jumia Tech Week is about ensuring that Kenyans can access the gadgets that support their everyday lives whether it’s a smartphone for work, a smart TV for learning and entertainment, or appliances that make homes more efficient,” Vinod Goel, Managing Director of Jumia Kenya, said.
The campaign’s main objective is to democratize access to essential technology by lowering barriers of cost and availability. By spotlighting consumer trends such as high demand for smartphones, laptops, smart TVs, and appliances, Jumia Tech Week reflects the growing role of digital tools in Kenya’s economy and lifestyle.
