Online shopping website Jumia expects 4 million Kenyans to log onto the platform during the e-commerce company’s annual Black Friday shopping season.
The numbers show that Jumia deals at this year’s sale event will make it twice as large as the 2017 edition.
Over the last year, Jumia sales have increased from 20% to 31% with the online platform attributing this to growing loyalty in the sales App. The growth has prompted the company to offer more App-Only-Deals.
“We want to reward our most loyal customers with our best deals. This is why we are launching App-Only-Deals this Black Friday,” said Jumia Managing Director Sam Chappatte.
Most of the sale that are secured on Jumia are accessed via smartphone, with the company saying desktop traffic share has dropped to 28%.
The one month event will run from 2nd – 30th November, with the tagline: Every Friday is Black Friday this November!

Jumia has partnered with both local and international brands including Visa, Huawei,Samsung, Synix, OMO, LC Waikiki, Xiomi, Pampers, Unilever, Ramtons, Mooka, Simba Corp, Chandaria Industries, and Procter & Gamble to offer amazing deals this Black Friday.
