Robbers at the weekend raided the home of a former Nation Media Group journalist Mbugua Ngunjiri in Kitengela and took away all valuables.
Ngunjiri was injured on the head and ankle with a blunt object during the Saturday night incident at his Mlimani home. He was treated and discharged.
He says the thugs attacked his house at around midnight and carried away anything of value they could land their hands on. Luckily, the kids slept through the whole ordeal.
“They came in through the kitchen door which was, apparently, not locked as we watched TV with my wife in the living room. I only noticed too late that we were in danger and before I could open my mouth I was hit on the head with a heavy metallic object,” Ngunjiri, who also served as Standard arts and culture writer, said in a Facebook update after recording a statement at Kitengela police station.

“They took the little money I had in the house and from my Mpesa after asking for my pin. They proceeded to borrow Ksh 3, 000 from MShwari. I have never borrowed money from Mshwari but I qualified for Ksh 3, 000,” he narrated.
Police are investigating the matter.
