Hours after senior Kenya Pipeline Corporation (KPC) managers were arrested, The Ministry of Petroleum and Mining on December 7 moved to replace Joe Sang with Hudson Andambi as Managing Director.

In a statement to newsrooms signed by Principal Secretary Andrew Kamau announced the appointment of Mr. Andambi following the arrest of Mr Sang who had announced that he would not be seeking another term at the helm of the company over a row over fuel with oil marketing companies which KPC management claimed was spilt.

“This Ministry in consultation with the chairperson of the corporation’s board has appointed Hudson Andambi as the interim managing director of KPC until the board meets to deliberate on the way forward,” read the statement.

Mr. Kamau said that the appointment will ensure that operations at the corporation continue smoothly while ensuring security of petroleum products.

On December 4, Sang said he would not be seeking another term at the helm of the company.

In the statement where Sang’s resignation was announced the KPC Board called for an expeditious audit into scandals facing the company.

While calling for investigations into the scandal on Thursday, Petroleum and Mining Cabinet Secretary owned up to graft at the corporation.
