Nearly nine in 10 Kenyan workers (87%) report experiencing stress, according to new findings from Niche Human Capital Advisory, raising fresh concerns about the growing economic and productivity costs of poor workplace wellbeing.

These findings will be unveiled during a press briefing, in Nairobi, where journalists will receive first access to additional research and analysis on workplace stress, burnout, employee engagement and the business impact of poor workplace wellbeing in Kenya and East Africa.

Niche Human Capital Advisory says it will be unveiling new findings on the state of workplace wellbeing in Kenya and East Africa, including insights showing that 87% of Kenyan workers report experiencing stress, 80.4% of employees across East Africa experience moderate to extreme workplace stress, and 67.8% of employees in Sub-Saharan Africa report emotional exhaustion and burnout.

The briefing comes as global research estimates that poor workplace wellbeing and disengagement cost the world economy US$10 trillion in lost productivity every year, while the International WELL Building Institute estimates that investing in healthier workplaces could unlock nearly US$12 trillion in economic value through higher productivity, better health outcomes and stronger workforce performance.

Journalists will get insights on what the data means for employers, policymakers and investors, and why workplace wellbeing is emerging as one of the defining business issues of the decade.

The briefing will also mark the unveiling of Africa’s first WELL Coworking Rated workspace, highlighting how global standards for healthier workplaces are beginning to shape the future of work on the continent.

Media will have access to:

  • Exclusive workplace wellbeing findings from Rebecca Gichuki, Partner Niche Human Capital Advisory.
  • Samir Patel, Founder and CEO, Workable
  • Rebecca Gichuki, Partner Niche Human Capital Advisory and workplace wellbeing specialists
  • Fresh insights into the economic impact of stress, burnout and disengagement.
  • Interviews with workplace wellbeing experts and business leaders.
  • A tour of Africa’s first WELL Coworking Rated workspace and its health-focused design features.
