SYSPRO, a global provider of industry-built enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for manufacturers and distributors, has announced that it will be opening an office in Kenya. The newly established office, to be based in Nairobi, will serve as a regional hub for East Africa – supporting SYSPRO’s local partner ecosystem and customer base in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia.

Established in 1978 and with more than 15 000 enterprise customers in over 60 countries across six continents, the company’s ERP solutions are known globally for both their simplicity in design and usability.

Speaking during the launch, Mark Wilson, Managing Director, SYSPRO Africa, said that with manufacturers having to deal with increasingly complex business demands and changing economics of production, ICT can help to facilitate and manage the complexity of these information-intensive processes, as well as achieve integration of activities within and among manufacturing enterprises. He pointed out SYSPRO as taking lead in providing flexible, leading-edge software specifically to meet the tailored needs of manufacturers and distributors.

ICT Cabinent Secretary Joe Mucheru, while welcoming SYSPRO to the country, said: “Kenya is open for business”.

He invited more investors to participate in numerous investment opportunities available in Kenya, citing the Ministry’s commitment to accelerate technology adoption, build an ICT-driven society and have a robust, diversified and competitive manufacturing sector.

Also present at the event was Patrick Wafula, SYSPRO’s General Manager for East Africa, who said: “Kenya has a large manufacturing sector serving both local and regional markets. This presents an attractive investment opportunity. We see our role in the East African region as an ICT enabler for manufacturers, providing access to industry-specific solutions and driving increased adoption of ICT in both manufacturing and distribution sectors.”

The Kenya Association of Manufacturers’ CEO, Phyllis Wakiaga, who also spoke at the event, noted that ICT is transforming the global manufacturing arena, while at the same time opening up opportunities for local manufacturers. She noted that automation within the manufacturing industry – particularly its value chain will lead to efficiency, lower cost of production and result in increased competitiveness of products at the local, regional and international markets.

The depth of software functionality and targeted industry knowledge makes SYSPRO an excellent choice for a number of select manufacturing and distribution industries, including food and beverage, machinery and equipment, electronics, fabricated metals, automotive, and many more. SYSPRO’s intuitive product features, business intelligence capabilities, and easy deployment methodology are unmatched in the marketplace.

“Opening an office in Kenya comes as a result of recognising the potential that the region has to offer. We are extremely excited for what’s to come in the next few months. We are also eager to explore the opportunities that this will present to the manufacturing sector,” concluded Wilson.
