Fanaka TV has announced enhancement of its broadcast strategy with the introduction of live bulletins which will be aired through social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.

The media group partly owned by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is targeting the online audience in a bid to enhance its reach.

Until now, the TV station has been operating a broadcast licence and airing a wide range of content ranging from business discussions, seminars and business news features.

In a statement to newsrooms, Fanaka TV CEO Terryanne Chebet on November 27 said that the move has been informed by the growing popularity of digital media.

“I am very excited about the prospects of news that’s created specifically for the online audience. As a fully fledged TV station we are cognisant of the fact that TV audiences are beginning to consume their content differently and we know that the digital audience now demands content that’s specifically created in the formats they want and uploaded in platforms they can easily access the information. We are giving audiences news that they can use,” said the former Citizen TV anchor in the statement.

“The media like all other businesses needs to adapt to the digital disruption as technological advancements continue to affect markets. As media houses pay the price of the revolution they must also reap the benefits of the digital age. We are excited to be firmly in the drivers seat in as far as live facebook & twitter news is concerned, the future of news is digital”. added Chebet.
