DStv, GOtv Launch Gospel Channel to Target Christians

DSTV and GOTV owners Multichoice together with Trace have launched a gospel channel to target Christians.

Trace, which is known as the destination for the latest urban and afro-urban – celebrity news, music, lifestyle, entertainment and culture partnered with Multichoice to launch the dedicated gospel channel. Dubbed Trace gospel, the new channel will be available across the African continent on DStv channel 332 and GOtv Max channel 77 in Kenya.

The channel promises to showcase both local and international gospel with music videos from various sub-genres including contemporary gospel, urban gospel, worship gospel, and traditional gospel.

All DSTV subscribers will be able to access the channel but on GOtv it is only available on the Max package. The channel will be available on DStv Family, Compact, Compact Plus, and Premium packages.

Speaking at the launch of the channel, Managing Director of Trace Eastern Africa, Danny Mucira, promised that the channel will consist of 60% music with the rest of the space occupied with artists’ interviews.

“The channel will mainly be based on gospel music from East and West Africa, news and worship. We will also be having artists’ interviews where they will be sharing their stories to inspire the viewer. There will be no preachings on the channel,” Mucira affirmed.

“We are a brand that is dedicated to showcasing the very best of Urban music from all genres from across the globe. We are looking to provide a chanel that is an exploration into Gospel music and a platform for the continents,” he added.

On his part, Multichoice Kenya Commercial General Manager, Simon Kariithi said DStv and GOtv platforms strive to give their customers what they ask for.

“Having TRACE Gospel on DStv and GOtv platforms is part of our on-going commitment to bringing a wide variety of the best in local and international content that touches the lives of our viewers,” said Kariithi, “The addition of this channel onto our platforms will ensure that our customers are exposed to even more entertainment options for their families, giving more value this festive season.”
