Diamond Trust Bank(DTB), a regional player with 130 branches spread across in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda- delivered a strong first-half performance, with net profit increasing by 35.8% to KSh 7.3 billion.

The lender recorded healthy growth in its core business. Interest income increased by 9.9%, while non-interest income grew by 6.6%. This helped push operating income up by more than 20%.

Diamond Trust Bank balance sheet  expanded, with customer deposits growing 10.6% and net loans increasing 13.7%. Total assets crossed the KSh 675 billion mark.

One positive point is the improvement in Return on Equity(ROE) to 14.25%, showing better returns generated from the bank’s equity base.

However, there are areas worth watching.

Free cash flow fell sharply, while the debt-to-equity ratio increased. Book value per share also declined to KSh 366.18.

Diamond Trust Bank remains relatively inexpensive despite the strong improvement in profitability. The share price, however, has already risen significantly from KSh 77.25 at the end of the first half of 2025 to KSh 145.

According to market analysts, Diamond Trust Bank continues to present an attractive long-term opportunity, supported by improving profitability, loan growth and stronger shareholder returns.

However, after the significant rise in the share price, there is no need to chase the stock at elevated prices aggressively.

Investors are advised to continue accumulating on weakness and use price pullbacks to build positions gradually.

The focus should remain on the quality of the business, earnings growth and long-term value, rather than short-term price movements.
