Six-part political thriller, based on Michael Dobbs novel, set against Parliament siege as streamer expands scripted slate
Damson Idris is set to star in and executive produce a television adaptation of The Lords’ Day for Netflix, adding to the platform’s slate of high-concept political thrillers.
The six-episode series, based on the novel by Michael Dobbs—best known for House of Cards—centers on a British intelligence officer caught inside Parliament during a security lockdown on the day of the State Opening. As the situation escalates into a siege, the narrative explores shifting allegiances and survival under pressure.
Production is expected to begin in the U.K. in the coming months. The project is being developed by Bad Wolf, with Jane Tranter and Dan McCulloch serving as executive producers. Writing duties are led by Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, whose previous credits include Spooks and Humans. Ben Chanan, known for The Capture, will direct and also executive produce.
The role marks another high-profile project for Idris, who gained recognition for his performance in Snowfall. He is also attached to upcoming film projects including Children of Blood and Bone and a biopic centered on Miles Davis.
