Citizen TV has unveiled a star-studded current affairs programme, News Gang, which premiers this Thursday.
The programme will feature Strategy and Innovation Director Linus Kaikai, Editorial Director Joe Ageyo, Managing Editor (Swahili) Jamila Mohamed, Political Editor Francis Gachuri and senior news anchor Yvonne Okwara.
“Every story has its beginnings but some stories get forgotten, others distorted while more others never end. . . Starting this Thursday, #NewsGang puts it all into perspective with informed and balanced accounts from @Fchurii @YvonneOkwara @JamilaMohamed @jageyo @LinusKaikai,” Citizen TV tweeted on Monday evening.
Kaikai, Ageyo and Okwara boast of a rich experience having hosted powerful programmes at KTN and NTV before joining the Royal Media Services-owned TV station this year.

The new programme is seen as part of a strategy by Citizen TV to maximise use of its rich outlay of talent following spectacular raids on its rivals.
At KTN, Okwara, for instance, hosted a Sunday night talk show ‘Checkpoint’, where she moderated analysts in a no-holds barred assessment of the week’s biggest stories. One critic suggested her potential is being wasted at Citizen TV.
“@YvonneOkwara so sad that your potential is so being wasted. You were super awesome in @KTNKenya,” he tweeted.
While many followers welcomed the new show, there were suggestions that the panel be expanded to include news anchor Hussein Mohammed, who enjoys a high rating as an interviewer.
