Brookside Dairy has rewarded its farmers with a Ksh 257 million cash payout, giving them an early Christmas surprise.
The bonus is on top of regular payments for milk delivered and is part of the company’s effort to encourage farmers to increase production while promoting clean milk practices.
Emmanuel Kabaki, Brookside’s General Manager for Milk Procurement, said the payout will benefit both dairy groups and individual farmers who supplied raw milk between July 1 and November 30 this year.
He noted that this bonus comes less than six months after another Ksh 303 million was paid for milk supplied between December 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025.
“This reward scheme is for farmers who signed up and were given specific milk supply targets, both in quantity and quality,” Kabaki said in a statement issued in Nakuru.
The largest share of the payout, Ksh118 million, will go to farmers supplying Brookside through dairy groups. The remainder will be shared among milk traders, large-scale farms, and individual suppliers.
Brookside has been investing heavily in building farmers’ skills across key milk-producing areas to increase milk volumes. Kabaki said that the scheme, now in its sixth year, reflects the strong relationship between the company and its 160,000 raw milk suppliers nationwide.
“This programme has helped boost the supply of high-quality milk, which allows us to expand into high-value products,” he added.
This year, over 60,000 farmers have benefited from Brookside’s extension services, including field day trainings and demonstration farms showcasing best practices in dairy farming.
The company is also promoting sustainable milk production. Kabaki explained that environmentally friendly practices such as agroforestry and biogas usage help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Brookside is further supporting farmers with animal feed. Nearly 250,000 cuttings of super napier grass and sweet potato vines have been distributed this year for establishment on farms.
Through these efforts, Brookside Dairy is not only rewarding farmers but also strengthening the milk supply chain and encouraging sustainable, high-quality milk production across Kenya.
