Barclays Kenya board member Norah Chieng Odwesso has resigned as Barclays Kenya board member to take up a lucrative job in an unnamed global corporate, Chairman Charles Muchene has announced.
In a statement, Muchene on Thursday announced that Ms Chieng, an independent non-executive director ceased to be a board member effective July 31, 2018.
“Ms Odwesso has served diligently on the board and committees since being appointed in 2014. She has consistently provided wise counsel and insightful opinions which have contributed to shaping the decision taken by the board,” reads the statement.
Ms Odwesso, 51, is also the chairperson of Juniour Achievement Kenya.
She also serves as board member in First Assurance Company Limited, The Gender Violence Recovery Centre, Coca Cola Central East & West Africa Limited.
She is also a member of The Management University of Africa Governing Africa.
Ms Odwesso’s exit comes even as the lender seeks Ksh65 million from sale of assets from it’s three closed branches (Bamburi, Maragua and Supplies) which it hopes to conclude by this year.
