The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) chief executive Anthony Mwangi has stepped down after two years at the helm of the representative organisation for manufacturing value-add industries in Kenya.
The resignation of Mr Mwangi was announced in an update by KAM’s Board Chairperson Jane Karuku after a closed-door meeting of the Board of Directors on Wednesday, August 14.
“On behalf of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers Board of Directors, I would like to announce that Anthony Mwangi, who served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the last 2 years has stepped down,” Ms Karuku wrote in a notice.
“Since joining KAM as the CEO, Mr Mwangi has been instrumental in driving the Association’s advocacy initiatives towards realising the Manufacturing 20by30 strategy.”

Ms Karuku added: “The Association extends its sincere gratitude to Mr Mwangi for his dedicated service and significant contributions to the Association and the manufacturing sector during his tenure.”
The Association is promoting its Chief Operating Officer, Tobias Alando, to be the Acting CEO and is taking the place of Mr Mwangi, who is handing over the reins immediately.
“We are confident that under Mr Alando’s interim leadership, KAM will continue to build on the strong foundation laid by Mr Mwangi,” said Ms Karuku. “During this period of transition, we ask for the continued support of all our members, partners and stakeholders as we work towards a seamless leadership change.”
The Association Board Chairperson affirmed that KAM remains committed to its strategic objectives, to its members and various stakeholders, and to delivering its purpose of creating prosperity for the nation through sustainable industrialisation.
Since 1959, KAM has been the front and centre in driving fact-based policy advocacy towards the formation of industrial policies to strengthen and support the country’s economic development.
