Amason Group has undertaken the ground-breaking of the first of 10 mother and child level 4 hospitals in Bomet County, with a grant worth KSh 4.5 billion for the Mama na Mtoto Kwanza initiative. This is a major boost for Kenya’s maternal health promotion efforts.

Amason Group, a Tanzanian industrial conglomerate associated with Bamburi Cement and East African Portland Cement, will spend US$ 35 Million-the largest ever private-sector financed boost to prevent maternal deaths in Kenya.
Available figures indicate that in Kenya, 5,000 children and 3,600 mothers die at delivery, with 26 counties currently identified as high-burden maternal death counties.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony and construction works commencement, Amason Group Managing Director Edha Nahdi pledged to complete all the 10 modern hospitals as part of the Pan- African firm’s commitment to shared prosperity ideals in Kenya.
He noted that the speedy completion of the 10 facilities within the next 2 years will also help alleviate the plight of more than 1 million underserved women in Nairobi (2), Kwale, Mombasa, Garissa, Kisumu, Embu, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu and West Pokot.
The project, developed through a Build, Equip and Transfer(BoT) Model will deliver the 10 facilities with 250-bed capacity each.
