Airtel Kenya on 11th June launched Unlimited Home Broadband 5G Data Plans, offering customers uninterrupted data usage on its 5G network. Tailored to meet the diverse needs of consumers in their homes and businesses, these plans will compete with Safaricom’s  Home Fibre Data plans.

Airtel launched its 5G network mid last year, starting off with 372 sites in 16 counties across 180 wards nationwide. Currently it has almost doubled its 5G footprint in the country with more than 690 sites covering 39 counties across 285 wards.

In marking this milestone, and in response to the remarkable uptake of the 5G network and an increased demand for 5G home internet solutions, the company has rolled out the unlimited home broadband 5G plans aimed for home users seeking the unmatched 5G experience.

“We are pleased to introduce Airtel Kenya’s Unlimited Plans,” said Ashish Malhotra, Managing Director, Airtel Kenya. “They signify our commitment to providing unmatched connectivity solutions and embody our vision for individuals and businesses empowered by seamless connectivity.”

Currently, Airtel’s network covers 89% of the Kenyan population. Airtel is committed to expanding its network infrastructure, with plans to achieve 94% coverage by the end of 2024, ensuring that more individuals can enjoy the benefits of reliable connectivity.

“At Airtel, we are steadfast in our dedication to supporting digital inclusion, and we are encouraged by the market’s response to our offerings. We are confident that our ongoing network expansion will enable us to extend connectivity to more communities nationwide, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital revolution,” Mr Malhotra added.

The Unlimited plans are structured across three tiers: 10 Mbps at Ksh3,500 monthly, 20Mbps at Ksh5,000 monthly, and 30 Mbps at Ksh6,500 monthly. Subscription to the plans requires an Airtel 5G router, available at all Airtel shops for Ksh2,999.

In addition to the unlimited data usage, the value of the Unlimited 5G Plans is further improved by an innovative, first time in the market, power backup that comes with the Airtel 5G router, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity even during power outages for as long as 5 hours.

Customers can purchase the 5G routers at any Airtel shop across the country. Alternatively, they can order one through the Airtel Kenya website (https://bit.ly/3QlDG3K) or dial *400# for home delivery of the 5G router. One can purchase or renew their unlimited data plans by dialling *400# or through MyAirtel App. For support, Airtel customers will call 400 and non-Airtel customers can reach out to the support team through 0733100400.

Airtel is on an aggressive network expansion drive, with the aim to roll out approximately close to 1000 sites before the end of the year. This roll out is the biggest ever in Airtel Kenya’s operations with the aim of improving indoor coverage in towns and connecting rural areas. The roll out will especially focus on enhancing and deepening Airtel’s network coverage in the northeastern region of the country.
