Activist Boniface Mwangi has been arrested.

The activist was whisked away from his home on Monday by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers who did not disclose to him the reason behind the arrest.

He is currently being held at Central Police Station.

Reports indicate that Mwangi was arrested in connection with the Red Vest Movement protest led by his fellow activist Beatrice Waithera alias Bettie wa Shiro  staged in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) last week  in protest of the runaway corruption being witnessed in the country.

Mwangi led fellow activists in pushing for Waithera’s release from Central Police Station.

The protest received coverage from international media including Al Jazeera.

A snapshot of the investigating officer George Muchiri’s statement doing rounds on social media shows that Mwangi was arrested in connection with a potential revolution over poor governance.

Mwangi is a fierce critic of the Jubilee Government and has been vocal in calling on the government to scale up the war against corruption.

He is also known to be vocal in calling for reining in of wastage of public funds.
