Absa Bank Kenya has rolled out a new customer rewards campaign that seeks to boost the use of digital payments while rewarding loyal customers with cash prizes.

In a press statement dated Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the three-month initiative, branded “Play Your Cards Right,” will run across the country and is designed to encourage both new and existing customers to use Absa debit and credit cards for everyday purchases.

Customers stand a chance to win weekly and monthly prizes when they swipe, tap or shop online.

Through the campaign, three winners will each walk away with a weekly prize of Ksh 100,000, while one lucky winner will bag Ksh 1 million every month for the entire three-month period.

Speaking during the launch, Absa Bank Kenya’s Head of Cards and Payments, Linda Kimani, said the initiative is a way for the bank to deepen customer engagement while promoting a cashless economy.

“The Play Your Cards Right campaign is designed as a customer rewards initiative encouraging Absa Debit and Credit card holders to embrace card usage while making daily transactions meaningful, fun and rewarding. We built this campaign on the foundation that Absa Bank continues to innovate around our customers’ needs and lifestyles and that we remain a Bank that is customer-first, digitally led and attuned to the evolving needs of every customer,” she said.

She added that the bank has consistently invested in secure and innovative digital payment solutions that simplify transactions for its customers.

“Over the years, Absa Bank has strengthened its digital payments through investment in secure, fast, convenient and digital-first card solutions. We would like to reinforce our belief that banking should not be complicated, but should be convenient, versatile, reliable, fun and secure, which are what cards offer,” Kimani said.

According to the bank, the campaign reflects Absa’s commitment to financial inclusion as part of its broader sustainability strategy.

The goal is to encourage more customers to transact efficiently and securely while building confidence in digital channels.

By offering lucrative rewards and promoting the convenience of card usage, Absa hopes the campaign will accelerate the shift from cash to digital payments, which continues to gain traction in Kenya’s financial sector.
