Absa Poaches Carolyne Kendi From Safaricom

Safaricom’s Head of Brand and Marketing Communications Carolyne Kendi is set to leave the giant telco in December to join Absa Bank Kenya.

Kendi has been appointed as the Chief Marketing Officer for Absa effective December 15, 2022.

Kendi brings onboard a wealth of experience in the practice of marketing and brand building having worked in multiple industries and markets across East, West and Southern Africa in leading corporates including Unilever, Diageo and Safaricom.

In her new job, she will be responsible for providing direction and oversight in the strategic areas of Brand, Marketing, Communications and Corporate Relations.

“At Absa, she will play a critical role in leading the next phase of our brand growth journey, which is focused on entrenching our purpose of Bringing Possibilities to Life as we continue to play our rightful role in supporting Kenya’s economic transformation,” Absa said in a statement.

Kendi holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the United States International University – Africa, a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK).
