Inooro TV anchor Mike Njenga is among the more recognizable faces on TV, having previously enjoyed a long stint at Citizen TV. Both stations are owned by Royal Media Services (RMS).

When not helming news bulletins or conducting important interviews, Njenga is a player in a number of sectors including hospitality and livestock. Like many other Kenyans including his colleagues in the media industry, Njenga operates a successful side-hustle or two.

He is behind Tipsy’s Lounge, a spacious restaurant, bar and lounge located in the upmarket Kileleshwa area. Offering a serene environment away from Nairobi’s noisier and busier areas, the lounge is frequented by well-known figures including RMS journalists, politicians and top business-people and professionals.

Other than the bar and indoor lounge, it features lush gardens with private compartments ideal for meetings as well as makuti-thatched sitting areas.

It offers a wide selection of meals and drinks, including some tantalizing original Kenyan dishes. Tipsy’s also occasionally hosts events including cook-outs.

In a past interview, Njenga once stated that he makes more from his side-hustles than his salary, without offering more insight into exactly how much he was raking in.

He has also plunged into dairy and poultry farming as well as pig rearing at his home in Kiambu County. The presenter sometimes shares updates on the status of his farm animals on his social media pages.

Njenga has also previously mentioned that he works closely with his wife Phoebe Wanjiku, whom he married in 2016, to ensure that his businesses run smoothly.

Indeed, his is an impressive story – having come a long way since getting his start at Eagles View Creations after acquiring a Diploma in Journalism. He went on to join TBN Family Media in July 2003, hosting shows on Family FM until his exit.

His time at Citizen TV saw him become one of the country’s most recognizable presenters. He moved to Inooro TV, which was the second TV station by RMS, soon after its launch becoming one of its main faces.
