Popular Ohangla musician Maureen Achieng, popularly known as Lady Maureen, is dead.

According to reports, the musician breathed her last past 3am on Saturday at her cousin’s home in Uriri constituency, Migori county.

Speaking to The Star, Bella Akinyi, Lady Maureen’s cousin, confirmed the death via a phonecall.

“She was undergoing home-based care after being discharged at Pastor Machage hospital in Migori town, she has passed on,” she said.

Maureen was a popular Ohangla musician who built a niche for herself singing about politicians from the Luo Nyanza region.

She was born on November 22, 1984, at Seme Kombewa village.

At one point, false rumours regarding her death forced Lady Maureen to post a video on social media to confirm she was alive.

Alemo counts as one of Lady Maureen’s biggest hits.

Last month, another Ohangla musician, Bernard Obonyo, popularly known as Abenny Jachiga, died.

There was mayhem as Jachiga was buried by policemen secretly in the wee hours of the morning. Only his brother attended the burial.
