KCSE 2019: Kenya High Produces Most A’s as Kapsabet Boys Claims Top Candidate

Kenya High School has produced the highest number of Grade A in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha revealed on Wednesday while releasing the results.

Kenya High School posted 76 A’s followed by Kapsabet Boys which posted 49 A’s. This year’s top candidate Buluma Waluke Tonny who averaged a score of 87.159 also comes from Kapsabet Boys.

Performance

According to the CS, the number of candidates who scored Grade A rose by 50% this year from 315 in 2018 to 627 this year.

Conversely, the number of candidates who scored grade A- rose by a huge margin from 3,418 last year to 5,796 this year.

The number of candidates who scored C+ and above, the minimum qualification to university education rose to 125,746 from 9,277 in 2018.

A total of 699, 745 candidates sat this year’s exam across 10,299 examination centers. 51% of them were male and 49% female.

The Cabinet Secretary said that 16 subjects recorded significant improvement while 11 recorded a significant decline.

The candidates improved their performance in English, Kiswahili, Biology, Chemistry, Physics while female candidates performed well in English, Kiswahili, CRE, Home Science, Art and Design, German and Kenya Sign Language.
