Former Harambee Stars Captain and Gor Mahia forward Dennis Oliech will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after fracturing his arm during K’Ogalo’s barren draw with Western Stima.

Oliech who made a comeback to football shortly after Harambee Stars qualified for AFCON will not be eligible to play at the tournament either way. The injury was initially thought to take six weeks according to the Gor Mahia website but Citizen Digital reports that the Oliech will be out for 5 months.

Gor Mahia Team Manager Jolawi Obondo confirmed that the injury is a serious one. “Dennis got a fracture on one of his arms and might be out of action for some time”, the Team Manager said.

Oliech got injured after a Western Stima defender recklessly brought him down, causing him to awkwardly fall on his left hand. He was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
Gor Coach, Hassan Oktay, has bewailed the draw with Western Stima being sure to blame the referee for not taking action against the Stima player for a foul challenge on Oliech.

“The referee was so close and witnessed Oliech being brought pulled down nastily but neither warned the Stima player nor called for a foul. He only did it as an afterthought when he saw Oliech being stretched to the ambulance. This is impunity,’’ Oktay charged.

After Oliech came back to playing professional football, many had hinted that he was fancying his chances of playing at the AFCON in Egypt. Oliech went ahead to prove himself worthy of getting a call-up by scoring amazing goals for Gor Mahia in his first matches. His goal against El Zamalek at the CAF Confed Cup sealed it all as it showcased the amount of experience the striker possesses.
