Flamboyant businessman Chris Kirubi is back on air after making a steady recovery from colon cancer, which saw him travel to the United States last November for advanced treatment.

Kirubi, popularly known in radio circles as DJ CK, made a return to Capital FM where he will continue presenting The Fuse show alongside Anne Mwaura and Miano Muchiri. The two have been hosting the programme in his absence.

The comeback was announced on the programme’s Twitter handle on Tuesday morning.

It comes a day after photos of Kirubi with, among others, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on the sidelines of the Sustainable Blue Economy Conference at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi, surfaced online warming the hearts of many well wishers.

The Fuse airs from 10am – 2pm, for “four of the best hours of rock, metal and golden oldies to leave one longing for more.”

The tycoon, who is in his seventies, is considered one of Kenya’s foremost self-driven businessmen and has invested in several publicly listed as well as private companies. He is the single-largest shareholder of Centum Investments with a 28.64% stake and holds leadership positions in more than 10 companies and organisations.

The Harvard Business School Alumnus chairs the board of Haco Tiger Brands, where he has a 49% stake and heads the board of Nairobi Bottlers, a local franchisee of global beverage firm, Coca-Cola.
