The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced commencement and conclusion dates for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Speaking to KNA yesterday a KNEC officer Malusi Musyoka said this year’s KCPE will commence on the 30th of October 2018 and end on 1st November.
Malusi said KCSE will officially begin on 5th November and end on 28th November 2018 although technical subjects will commence on an earlier date.
The officer urged center managers who are school heads to ensure only registered candidates sit for the exams.
Malusi commended the center managers, supervisors and invigilators for getting the opportunity for the positions saying they were selected from a vigorous exercise on merit and personal integrity.
He urged the examination monitors to deliver a credible examinations noting that stern measures will be taken to anyone who defies the set examination guidelines.
Musyoka reiterated that there are emerging issues in examinations including intersex persons where he reported a case in Kiambu where a boy spent four years in a girls’ school due to biological make-up mix-up.
He advised examination officials to use the provided online query management information system to report and update the council on such to handle any complaints and avoid inconveniences on the exams day.

On drugs and alcohol abuse the official condemned some selected exam officials who drink on duty saying if caught they will be fired on the spot.
