Citizen TV news anchor and talk show host Anne Kiguta has been paired up with TV reporter Patrick Igunza to host a show on Hot 96 radio station. The station is owned by Royal Media Services, the mother company to Citizen TV.

The two will be hosting the evening Drive Show on weekdays between 3PM and 7PM. This will be the second show for Igunza, known in Royal Media corridors as the all-round guy for his versatility, who already runs the Uradi show on Wednesday afternoons.

Igunza debuted on Hot 96 in March 2017 with the Uradi show that targets young listeners trying to make it in life (hustlers) and features various entrepreneurs and success stories. The Uradi show received high ranking three months after launch and it is regarded as one of the popular programmes on Hot 96.

For Anne Kiguta, who hosts Opinion Court Talk show and Monday Special prime time bulletin, things have come full circle as radio was her first home after college. She at one point hosted and produced a couple of shows on Hope FM from 2003 to 2006.

The Drive show begins on Monday 23rd July and will focus on politics, social justice and youth empowerment issues.

Patrick Igunza now has tww shows on Hot 96.

The extra assignments for the two TV personalities is part of changes being implemented by RMS management to optimize its talent through convergence by developing multimedia journalists.

“I’m thrilled to be back on radio where I began my career,” Ms Kiguta is quoted by Citizen Digital as saying. “This is no ordinary drive time show. Yes, it will have all the great elements of a drive time show – great music and great deejays – but the show is really anchored on our passion for social justice and economic empowerment.”

She joins other RMS TV journalists already working for Hot 96. They include Jeff Koinange, who co-host the morning show with Jalang’o (who, by the way, is leaving for Milele FM), and Willis Raburu, who also is rumoured to be eyeing a slot at NTV.

The hope for RMS is to use the TV celebrities to pull more listeners for the radio station, which had struggled for years to find space among urban youth listeners. Its ratings have improved over the past one year, according to insiders.
