Airtel new 4G network provides faster data speeds

Airtel Kenya, the second largest telecommunication service provider in Kenya, has launched its 4G service, which will offer faster internet speeds.

Airtel customers who have been enjoying enhanced services in the past few months will now experience faster connectivity speeds with the 4G network, which supports fast browsing speeds and improved network responsiveness. The 4G experience will enable users access more media on their devices, including videos and photos.

The launch comes with a double data offer to all customers who have a 4G handset and 4G SIM cards subscribing to its monthly bundle. In addition, Airtel customers who upgrade their SIM cards to 4G will get 2GB data bonus . Customers can do self-upgrade of their SIM to 4G by dialing *100# and selecting the upgrade menu.

The company is offering free 4G SIM cards at their shops.

The Airtel 4G will initially be available in Nairobi and Mombasa followed by extended investment and roll out to other towns and cities as part of the on-going plans to enhance quality of service. Besides the 4G, Airtel is continuously upgrading its 2G and 3G networks.

Airtel Managing Director Prasanta Das Sarma said the 4G launch is another milestone for the company in Kenya.

“Airtel is committed to continuously innovate and improve the quality of its products and services for a delightful customer experience,” he said, speaking at the launch today. “We believe we have launched our 4G service at the most opportune time especially now that many customers have access to more 4G enabled handsets and devices.”

The newly launched Airtel 4G network is among the fastest developing systems in the history of mobile telecommunications. Its advantages are already impacting service delivery in various businesses and industries from health care to automobile industries among others.

Airtel continues to introduce new and exciting products and services for its voice and data customers and is currently running a brand campaign dubbed “Kenya’s most affordable network” which showcases the various products and services including Airtel Money that are aimed making life better for Kenyans.
