Leading regional medical underwriter AAR Insurance has announced the appointment of Nixon Shigoli to the role of Managing Director.
As he assumes his new appointment, Shigoli will be responsible for the overall operations and management of AAR Insurance Kenya limited with a focus on steering the company to achieve the targeted company profits, regulatory compliance, sustainable business growth and implementation of the company’s strategic plan.
He takes over from Caroline Munene who was recently promoted to the position of Group Chief Executive Officer for East Africa and tasked with the responsibility of driving AAR Insurance’s operations throughout Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania as well as ensuring the growth of the company as a whole.

Commenting on the appointment, Munene said: “The collective knowledge, expertise and experience that Shigoli has will be beneficial in further strengthening our underwriting capabilities and reinforce our position at the forefront of quality and innovative insurance product providers. Shigoli is an alumnus of Egerton University having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics). He also holds a professional Diploma in Insurance from the Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK). Prior to this appointment, he was the company’s General Manager Sales and Marketing besides having served in other capabilities within AAR Insurance Kenya for 10 years.
