The Kenya National Examination Council has come to its defence after a Form Four student from Mbooni, Makueni County was found to be in possession of material alleged to belong to the Council on Monday night.

According to Mbooni East OCPD Peter Njeru, the images of the documents were found in a WhatsApp account (Team 2017) on the phone of the said student who schools at the Kitondo Boys Secondary School.

The student, who was presented to the police by the school principal Pascal Musyimi, was taken to Mbumbuni police station upon which his phone was confiscated and the documents sent to KNEC for investigation.

After reviewing the materials, the Council established that the documents in question were fake, saying they were not even close to resembling the forthcoming national examinations.

Council chairman Prof George Magoha assured the public that all examination papers are safe and secured as they have adopted last year’s examination systems which included banning of extra-curricular activities in schools in the third term such as prayer meeting.

It also urged the teachers to continue preparing candidates without fear or panic of their safety being compromised.
