The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has listed consignments belonging to Kenya Power, KCB Bank, Lifecare Hospitals, Reckitt Benckiser and other organisations for public auction after they remained in Customs warehouses beyond the permitted period.
The goods were identified in notices published in the Kenya Gazette on September 18, 2026, giving the owners 30 days to enter and remove their consignments from Customs custody. Failure to comply could result in the goods being declared abandoned and sold.
The notices cover cargo held at the Nairobi Inland Container Depot and several Container Freight Stations in Mombasa. KRA will conduct the auctions through its online platform during October and November.
The consignments include electrical equipment, medical supplies, solar lighting products, industrial materials, machinery parts, foodstuffs and motor vehicles.
Among the goods listed at the Nairobi depot are several consignments belonging to Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited. They include high-voltage SF6 circuit breakers and other high- and medium-voltage circuit breakers intended for Kenya. The equipment was discharged in November 2025 and is stored at Consolbase 1 (FFK) in Nairobi.
KCB Bank is listed with containers carrying solar street lights and accessories, while Lifecare Hospitals (K) Limited appears in connection with medical supplies that arrived aboard the vessel Irenes Southern in January 2026.
Reckitt Benckiser Services (Kenya) is also named in the notices. Its consignment is described as condoms and was discharged from CMA CGM Africa Two in January 2026.
The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei, Sudan (UNISFA), has a consignment containing assorted foodstuffs. The shipment includes dried dairy milk, evaporated milk, chilli sauce, yoghurt, mixed dry items and cornflour, marked for transit to Sudan and Abyei.
Other organisations named include the Embassy of Sweden, Equatorial Nut Processors, Kimfay East Africa, Kaluworks, SOS Children’s Village Kenya, D.Light, Doshi and Company (Hardware), Urysia and ARM Cement.
KRA issued the notices under Section 42 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004. The provision allows goods that remain in Customs warehouses beyond the prescribed period to be treated as abandoned and sold by public auction.
The Nairobi Inland Container Depot auction is scheduled for October 19 to 23, 2026, with viewing planned for October 15 and 16.
A separate auction covering Container Freight Stations in Mombasa will take place from October 26 to 30. The auction for Mombasa’s Cluster B2 is scheduled for November 2 to 6.
