Sameer Africa, a listed firm at the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE), appointed Eshak Adam Harunani and Richard Omwela as Independent Non-Executive Directors of the Company with effect from 29th May 2026.
In a notice, Sameer Africa described Harunani as a seasoned business leader and governance professional with over 30 years’ experience in audit assurance, financial reporting, advisory and corporate governance across East Africa and the United Kingdom.
Harunani previously served as a Partner at Deloitte Africa and as Country Manager Partner for Tanzania. He has expensive board and committee experience and currently serves on the board of East Africa Portland Cement Plc and East African Gas Oil Limited.
Omwela is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with distinguished legal and corporate governance experience spanning over 40 years.
He is a Partner at Dentons Hamilton Harrison& Mathews Advocates and previously served as the firm’s Managing Partner. He has previously advised clients across multiple sectors and currently serves on several boards, including Nairobi Airport Services Limited, ABC Bank Limited and WPP ScanGroup Plc.
Sameer Africa appreciates outgoing directors
Sameer Africa Board welcomed the two new non-executive directors and said the firm will benefit from their extensive experience, leadership and strategic insight as the firm continues to strengthen its and pursue long term sustainable growth.
Sameer Africa Board also express appreciation of Outgoing Directors Dr Lydia Mbuthia and Peter Gitonga, who both stepped down on May 29th 2026, for their dedicated service, invaluable guidance and contribution to the growth and stewardship of the Company during their tenure.
Sameer Africa shareholders are expected to confirm the appointment of the two new directors, who will be formally elected during the firm’s 57th Annual General Meeting(AGM) to be held virtually on 23rd June 2026.
The Two Directors will also be confirmed to serve as members of the Audit, Risk and Corporate Governance Committee as Directors.
The AGM will be streamed live via a link which will be provided to all Sameer Africa shareholders.
