A recent customer survey has confirmed Safaricom as the most reliable mobile internet provider in Kenya, surpassing Airtel, Telkom Kenya, and Jamii Telkom in both speed and service consistency.

Subscribers on Safaricom’s network reported fewer interruptions and steadier connections than users of competing networks.

Only 4.4 per cent of Safaricom customers described their internet speeds as very slow, while 5.2 per cent said they were slow. Most respondents rated their speeds as average, fast, or very fast, indicating broad satisfaction with the network’s performance.

“Safaricom demonstrates the strongest performance among reported responses, though the data is limited by a high ‘don’t know’ share. Among those who did respond, there are fewer negative ratings compared to other providers, indicating stronger perceived speed reliability,” the survey stated.

Airtel users had more varied experiences, with over 10 per cent rating their internet as slow or very slow. Meanwhile, 17.3 per cent described their speeds as fast, and 9.3 per cent as very fast.

Jamii Telkom customers expressed the highest levels of dissatisfaction, with 17.1 per cent saying their speeds were very slow and 26.8 per cent reporting slow connections. Only a minority experienced fast or very fast internet.

Telkom Kenya users reported mixed results, with 12.5 per

cent rating speeds as very slow and 19.6 per cent as slow, while 14.3 per cent said speeds were fast and 19.6 per cent very fast, reflecting inconsistent service across the network.

Data from the Communications Authority of Kenya confirms Safaricom’s dominance, showing it leads in mobile subscriptions and broadband services. Its ongoing investments in 4G and 5G networks continue to enhance coverage and reliability.

Safaricom remains the benchmark for mobile internet quality in the country.
