Safaricom has rolled out a new campaign dubbed “Shangwe @25” as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, promising millions in prizes and community projects across Kenya.
The promotion, which will run nationwide, aims to give back to customers, small businesses, and communities that have been part of Safaricom’s journey since its launch in 2000.
As part of the celebrations, 25 customers will walk away with KES 1 million each, plus an additional KES 250,000 to fund a community project of their choice.
The company says this approach will ensure that individuals win also bring benefits to local communities.
“For 25 years, Safaricom has been at the heart of Kenya’s transformation, connecting people to people, people to opportunities and people to knowledge. As we mark this milestone, we celebrate not just our journey but the millions of customers, partners and communities who have made it possible. ‘Shangwe @25’ is our way of saying thank you and ensuring that when one customer wins, their community wins too,” Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom Group CEO, said.
Small and medium businesses have also been included in the celebration. Twenty-five micro and small enterprises will each receive a Bajaj Tricycle to boost their operations, while 15 larger businesses will be awarded Ksh 500,000 each to support community projects.
In addition, five small businesses will win stock worth Ksh 250,000 every week.
The promotion will feature several other rewards, including airtime, data bundles, 5G routers, mobile devices, and instant M-PESA cash prizes ranging from Ksh 100 to Ksh 10,000.

Safaricom is also introducing a festive “Green Box” experience, giving customers a chance to win household goodies such as devices, chicken, goats, and sheep during the holiday season.
Participation in the campaign is open to all customers transacting on M-PESA, using Safaricom products, or redeeming Bonga Points.
Post Pay, Home Fibre, and Family Share users are also eligible. M-PESA agents and merchants can take part by carrying out deposit or withdrawal transactions or using business solutions such as Buy Goods and Pochi La Biashara.
The company said the celebration will be marked through regional activations across the country, ensuring that customers from all parts of Kenya get a chance to participate.
