The Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars team is set to leave Nairobi on Saturday evening, September 6, for an international training camp in Spain that is expected to elevate the careers of some of Kenya’s most promising young footballers.

The squad is made up of 25 outstanding players who will travel to Huesca for a week-long training program. In total, 32 players were selected for the All-Star squad, but while 25 will travel, the others have already hit major milestones by securing call-ups to both national and international clubs.

The success of these players is being seen as proof of the kind of talent that the Chapa Dimba program continues to discover, nurture and push onto the global stage.

Speaking during the announcement, Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa said the initiative is transforming lives by giving young people a chance to pursue their football dreams.

“Chapa Dimba has always been about opening doors of opportunity for Kenyan youth, and today, we are proud to see that vision come alive in an even bigger way. Not only are these young players travelling to Spain to sharpen their skills, but many of their teammates have also earned call-ups to top national and international clubs,” he said.

Adding;

“To see players like Austin Odongo, Emily Moranga, and Khamis Nyale break into professional clubs, while others take this next big step in Spain, fills us with immense pride. This is the heartbeat of Safaricom Chapa Dimba: empowering our youth, transforming their lives, and showcasing Kenyan football talent to the world.”

During their stay in Spain, the players will take part in a series of intensive football and cultural activities. They will train at the Base Aragonesa de Fútbol, the modern sports city of SD Huesca, and play against Huesca’s Youth Academy. The program will also include expert-led masterclasses where they will learn from professional players. To give them a taste of European football culture, they will attend a Segunda Division match between SD Huesca and Málaga CF and also take part in sightseeing and city tours.

For the young players, the trip is the chance of a lifetime.

“Visiting Spain and experiencing world-class football has always been a dream, and now it is becoming a reality. I am determined to make the most of this opportunity, learn as much as possible, and use the lessons to grow my football career,”  All-Star player Swaumu Masungo said.

The All-Stars team will be led by two captains, Stanley Waswa of Ndura Sports Academy for the boys’ side and Manda Sunira Were of Highland Royals Moi Girls for the girls’ side.

They will be guided by coaches Chrispine Odindo of Plateau Queens and Evans Oketch of Obunga FC, alongside representatives from the Football Kenya Federation.
