Karen Country Club will host the 10th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour this Saturday as golfers from Nairobi and its environs converge at the lush course for a competitive outing.

The tournament has been tipped to start at 6:30 am for the morning tee action while the afternoon tee has been scheduled for 12:30 pm. The top two teams from the weekend’s action will book their slots in the tour’s grand finale slated for December 5.

Speaking ahead of the competition, Club Captain Peter Kariuki said: “We have prepared well to host the 10th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour. Our green keeper has been working so hard to ensure that the course is in good condition and ready to host a competition of this magnitude. I can confirm that all is set and we expect a huge turnout for this event.”

The series has penetrated the East African region, reaching 1500 participants so far and over 800 juniors through the golf clinics that are held concurrently with the series. Recently, in Nanyuki, Cyprian Bundi, Joseph Mwangi, Purity Githui, Githinji Gachai, Kuldip Hujan, Omraj Semhi, Dan Weru and Luka Mwangi qualified for the grand finale.

“The third edition of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour has been pivotal in advancing the growth of the game. Building on the lessons and successes of last year, we are already impacting more individuals and communities. Our aim is to elevate this sport to an elite level and to continue positioning Kenya and the East African region as a premier golfing destination,” noted KCB Group Director Marketing and Communications Rosalind Gichuru.

After the grueling 8-month-long series, the overall team winners from the grand finale will receive KShs. 1 million cash reward that will be channeled to a sustainable initiative their club is currently undertaking. Additionally, they will be sponsored to participate in a prestigious golf tournament.

On Sunday, KCB Bank will host a juniors’ golf tournament at the same venue where over 100 young enthusiasts will compete for top prizes. This is part of KCB’s agenda to develop and nurture young talent.
