Kathryne Maundu, the corporate lawyer who recently captured the interest of Kenyans after resigning four plum jobs in quick succession to recapture her “personal and family” time. Ms Maundu was a company secretary for Safaricom, East African Breweries Plc, BAT Kenya, and Eaagads Limited. She quit the roles in a space of one month.

“It is a new season and I am also thinking about my wellness and the next steps in terms of family, friends and hobbies,” she said, noting that serving the four firms had robbed away her personal time.

Turns out Ms Maundu was not taking a break from the corporate suite, after all. The advocate of the High Court, certified public secretary, and an accredited governance auditor has reportedly landed a new assignment with one of Kenya’s big banks.

NCBA Group, significantly controlled by the Kenyatta family, has hired Kathryne Maundu as its new company secretary. This was revealed through a communication to staff by NCBA Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Gachora.

“It gives me great pleasure to officially welcome Kathryne Maundu who joins as the group company secretary, subject to regulatory approvals,” said Mr Gachora.

Until the end of October, she worked as a partner at Stamford Corporate Services LLP, offering the services of an outsourced company secretary to entities in diverse sectors.

Ms Maundu previously worked at Deloitte, where she rose from an associate in 2004 to a consultant, assistant manager and manager before exiting nine years later as a senior manager to be a partner at Stamford Corporate Services LLP.
