An image shared by Facebook user Brian Kirubi claiming to be of Kericho Green Stadium is False.

The photo was shared days before the Mashujaa Day celebrations held at the Kericho Green Stadium on October 20, 2023.

“Kericho Green Stadium at 85% complete ahead of Mashujaa Day. Did you know 1st event to be held after the G-day be KKK Cup finals? This time is bigger and better,” the user captioned the image.

A reverse image search shows the photo is an artistic rendering of Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

The image was first shared on Facebook by former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui on May 12, 2021.

The stadium is being constructed at a cost of Ksh 650 million and is expected to have a capacity of 14,300 up from the previous 8200,” Kinyanjui said in his 2021 post.

People Daily, in a report dated June 13, 2022, also shared the same image of Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

The report by People Daily revealed that sporting activities at the Afraha Stadium would be suspended for an unknown period of time to allow for the upgrades.

The actual photos of the Kericho Green Stadium were shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Raymond Omollo, the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Internal Security and National Administration, on October 1, 2023.

More photos of the Kericho Green Stadium were also shared here.

The photo shared on Facebook with claims that it was the Kericho Green Stadium is, therefore, false.
