An advert promising jobs at Carrefour in Kenya is fake.

The ad, posted on TikTok, claims that the chain retailer is hiring customer care agents.

According to the ad, job seekers will be required to provide a national ID, curriculum vitae, a passport photo, and a medical letter.

It further claims that successful candidates will work from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and will be provided with free breakfast and lunch.

Further, the ad calls for applications to be submitted through a WhatsApp number (0101304242) and a Gmail account ([email protected]).

Interestingly, the comments for the post are turned off.

Business Today fact-checked the ad and found it to be a scam.

On October 9, 2023, Carrefour Kenya, through its verified Facebook Page, dismissed the ad as fake.

In the statement, the chain retailer said that it only announces job vacancies through its official channels.

Beware of false job advertisements circulating on social media. Always verify openings through official channels to protect yourself from scams,” the statement read.

“This advert, circulating on social media, suggests that Carratour Kenya is hiring for customer service positions. This Is a fake job advert. Carrefour Kenya does not solicit any payment for recruitment or interviews,” the statement by Carrefour added.

Carrefour’s official channels include its website, Facebook page, email address ([email protected]) and phone number (0800 221 322), all of which are listed on the supermarket’s verified page.

The job advert posted on TikTok is, therefore, fake.
