Carrefour has rolled out the second edition of its Grand Brand Festival, a two-week nationwide shopping campaign running from September 19 to October 2, 2025.

The retailer, which is operated in Kenya by Majid Al Futtaim, said the promotion will give shoppers discounts of up to 50 per cent on a wide selection of items, including fresh produce, groceries, electronics, personal care products and everyday household goods.

“This year’s festival also emphasises Carrefour’s ongoing commitment to local suppliers by featuring and promoting products from Kenyan brands,” the company said in a statement.

The initiative is not only aimed at rewarding loyal customers but also at strengthening Carrefour’s ties with local businesses. Over the years, the supermarket chain has worked with Kenyan farmers, manufacturers and distributors to stock locally made goods. By highlighting them during the festival, Carrefour hopes to increase visibility for homegrown brands in an increasingly competitive retail space.

As part of the festival, Carrefour has launched a customer rewards programme worth an estimated KES 9 million. Shoppers who buy selected items from participating brands will automatically be entered into a draw for prizes such as two cars, school fees support, fully paid holiday trips and other rewards.

“The prize winners will be announced through a series of online and live draws to be held between September 26 and October 8,” Carrefour added.

The Grand Brand Festival is running across all 29 Carrefour branches in Kenya as well as on the retailer’s mobile application. By extending the campaign to its online platforms, the retailer is also targeting Kenya’s growing base of digital shoppers who are increasingly turning to apps for convenience.

Carrefour entered the Kenyan market in 2016 and has since expanded rapidly, filling a gap left by the exit of several local and regional supermarket chains. Industry observers say campaigns such as the Grand Brand Festival help the retailer maintain a competitive edge by combining discounted prices with value-added experiences for customers.
