A Facebook post purporting to show seven men paraded in front of a police station as the masterminds of the violènce at a burial in Eldoret is fake.
The post, published on April 3, 2022, quotes police saying the masterminds of the violènce that rocked a burial in Eldoret are in custody. It uses a photo and names those allegedly arrésted as Collins Omido, Dancun Nyawawa, Nyabutho Kevin, Ezekiel Jamaranda, Bill Okanga, PA to Governor Tolgos Richard Munai and Ken Orara.
The post came after police in Uasin Gishu County had arrésted 14 suspècts over the 1st April attáck on ODM leader Raila Odinga’s entourage in Kebenes, Soy Constituency, on 1st April.
The incidént happened during Mzee Jackson Kibor’s burial. During the incidént, rowdy youths pelted Mr Odinga’s chopper and vehicles with stones, damaging the chopper’s air shield.
A Google reverse image search reveals that the image was published on October 7, 2019, by Daily Nation when police in Eldoret recovered eight vehicles and arrésted seven people suspècted of being behind the car théft syndicate.
The suspécts were arrésted in Kericho, Bomet and Uasin Gishu counties. The photo was taken by Jared Nyata, the Nation photographer based in Eldoret.
