Ziidi Money Market Fund (MMF), managed by Standard Investment Bank and ALA Capital, recorded a 90.2% rise in the size of its Balance Sheet to KSh 20.33billion, at the end of the first half of 2026 ended 30th June 2026.

These assets comprise KSh 8.28billion in fixed deposits up 40.7%, KSh 7.23billion in call deposits up 35.6%, KSh 2.47 billion in government securities up 12.1%, KSh 958.9million in commercial papers up 4.7%, KSh 562.2million in Treasury bills up 2.8%, KSh 430.2million in cash and bank balances up 2.1% and K Sh 368.7million in corporate bonds, an increase of 1.8%.
Surplus attributable to Ziidi unit holders rose 149.0% to KSh 679.95million, as total investment income increased 159.1% to KSh 918.29million.
The Fund’s Income growth was driven by interest from call deposits rising 458.5% to KSh 412.96million, fixed-deposit interest increasing 38.7% to KSh 269.46million and government-securities income rising 91.7% to KSh 165.57million.
Total operating expenses of Ziidi rose 193.1% to KSh 238.31million, with management fees increasing 158.8% to KSh 201.61million.
Unit-holder balances increased 90.8% to KSh 20.21billion. The Fund, owned by Safaricom Plc, was licensed by Capital Markets Authority(CMA) as a Collective Investment Scheme, in November 27th 2024. It is a subsidiary unit trust and operates like M-Pesa’s Mali MMF.
Ziidi MMF is held in a ring-fenced unit trust with Safaricom earning distribution, platform fees while fund managers earn management fees, pegged at 2%.
Ziidi was launched in December 2024 and by March 2026 had more than KSh 10.2 billion in Assets Under Management(AUM). The MMF had more than KSh 14.6 billion in investor cash and KSh 784 million net profit in the first 14 months.
According to the CMA permit, Ziidi can only invest in low-risk fixed income securities such as Treasury Bills and Bonds, Fixed and Call Bank Deposits as well as Commercial Paper.
The Fund empowers unit holders by offering accessible and diversified investment options as part of the broader National Government’s financial inclusion strategy.
The Fund is accessible through the M-PESA platform, making it convenient for subscribers to grow wealth through the capital markets.
