Global payments technology company Visa has announced the appointment of Marianne Mwaniki as senior vice president in charge of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Ms. Mwaniki, a banker by profession has a rich portfolio in in the international banking industry where she worked for more than 20 years.
She holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and was recently recognized as one of Kenya’s Top 40 under 40.
Prior to joining VISA, she worked as managing director at Standard Chartered handling individual clients in Africa.
Ms. Mwaniki is also a board member of the British Chamber of Commerce Kenya as well as a founding member of the Africa Leadership Network.
During her stint at the lender, Ms. Mwaniki was in charge of the bank’s sustainability strategy formulation.
She was also the bank’s liaison with governments, at United Nations conferences, European Union working groups as well as at general social impact and banking industry conferences.
According to William Sheedy, Visa’s executive vice president of corporate strategy, mergers & acquisitions and government relations, Ms. Mwaniki’s leadership will advance the multinational’s commitment to strengthening communities.
The company also says that her talents will go a long way in enabling it to operate responsibly, and prioritize inclusiveness and growth of micro and small enterprises around the world.
“Marianne has a wonderful combination of strong global experience in the financial industry and a demonstrated passion for driving social change,” added Mr. Sheedy.
