Body Of Veteran Science Journalist Found In Mortuary A Month After Disappearing

The body of veteran journalist Gatonye Gathura has been found in Naivasha Sub-County Referral Hospital morgue, a month after he disappeared.

Gathura, a renowned Health and Science journalist, disappeared on October 26, 2021. A report was filed with the police the same day before his body was found dumped on the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu Road. His body was booked in the morgue as an “unknown male person”. However, the Registrar of Persons used fingerprints to establish his identity on Thursday, November 25, 2021, and confirmed the body to be that of Mr Gathura.

Police reports indicated that a copper wire was found around his neck, indicating that the scribe could have been strangled.

Before passing on, Gathura ran a blog called Rocket Science which ran stories on medicine, health, environment and technology.

He previously wrote for The Standard and Nation, before starting his own blog.

He published his last story, Sterilised men protect their women against ovarian ca,ncer – study, on October 19.
